Strategic Purpose Statement |
This one-year programme has been designed to blend theory and reality by connecting classroom and context through the internship model. Course requirements (met through the educative guidance of a supervisor/mentor, the challenges of ministry, formal instruction with peers, and directed learning) equip the student for vocational Christian service. Student involvement in a real situation under experienced practitioners enables informed vocational transitional and contextual awareness. Both Christian organisations (such as International Student Ministries) and churches offer internship placements. The course provides a way for a local church to develop potential leaders, without losing their input. Interns also benefit by learning from experienced leaders in a hands-on practical context, while also receiving life-impacting biblical and theological input. The how and the why of Christian ministry are developed together. This programme uniquely combines internship experience with biblical and theological education through residential block courses and weekly study. It offers a greater proportion of supervised ministry experience than comparable degree programmes, while still enabling entry into the second year of such programmes.
