Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduates will have the knowledge and skills to develop professional careers as a visual artist, designer, musician, performer or writer; or to undertake further postgraduate study.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Arts will be able to:
* demonstrate advanced technical proficiency in their major discipline
* demonstrate advanced creative response and artistic expression
* analyse and evaluate theoretical and historical contexts to develop solutions for creative works in the applied arts
* integrate technique and creativity to generate, explore and apply creative ideas
* produce a cohesive body of applied arts work through independent and/or collaborative research
* undertake independent or collaborative projects in a workplace setting
* reflect, analyse, evaluate and communicate ideas, using appropriate techniques
* identify, analyse and evaluate opportunities to engage in contemporary entrepreneurship and/or innovation in the applied arts
* undertake responsible business practice and accountability in the applied arts
* understand and value cultural diversity
* participate in tikanga Maori and apply the principles of Te Titiri o Waitangi
* participate professionally in their applied arts discipline
* engage with networks in their arts community
* engage in applied arts activities with enthusiasm and commitment
* critically evaluate art works in their discipline
* self-assess and use others' feedback constructively

Level

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
