Diploma in Professional Coaching This programme is suitable for professionals working in areas of social development (teachers, trainers, consultants, HR professionals etc.) and /or social support services (social workers, nurses, therapists, etc.). It is also recommended to those working in service industries with a strong client orientation (i.e. tourism and hospitality) who would like to develop their people skills and improve their interpersonal communication and client relationship skills. The course will cover the following topics: What coaching is and how it differs from mentoring, consultancy and therapy. History and roots of coaching. Main coaching areas and coaching styles. Couching outcomes, benefits and potential barriers. An explanation of the fundamentals of transactional and transformational coaching, and the relationship between the two. Creating a suitable coaching environment and designing effective coaching programmes. The coaching project and design and execution of a coaching session. Key characteristics of a coaching conversation. Coach profile key coaching competencies. Evaluation of a potential coachee and his/her coachability index. Developing critical coaching skills. Professional coaching standards and ethics - ethical framework of coaching. Coaching resources.

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
