Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates will show evidence of advanced knowledge in their specialist field of professional health practice. They will be able to critically evaluate the literature; research, analyse and argue from evidence; and show mastery of theoretical concepts relevant to their discipline. They will demonstrate the capacity for independent thinking through the design and conduct of a piece of supervised research, and be ready to apply these skills to new situations in existing or new roles in the health sector. Some graduates may be able to continue to further study at doctoral level.

Entry Requirements |
A bachelors degree with honours or a postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in a health-related discipline. Candidates in nursing or midwifery must hold the relevant professional registration.

Content |
A research thesis in nursing, midwifery or another health discipline, which must be completed in twelve months full time or twenty four months part time. Students must attend block research sessions at least twice per year. Students are assigned one or two supervisors who will oversee their research and have direct contact with the student on a minimum of a monthly basis; contact is face-to-face or by internet medium as appropriate.

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
