This degree provides an interdisciplinary approach to Geographic Information Science (GIS), including taught courses and supervised research. Graduates will have advanced knowledge in the field, with the ability to study independently; carry out original research; and plan, execute and present the findings of applied GIS projects. Graduates from the programme should be qualified to work as GIS professionals in research, government and industry.

Content |
The MGIS programme is a limited entry, interdisciplinary postgraduate 240 point (2 EFTS) programme. The programme will consist of compulsory and elective courses, which cover GIS foundations, theory, research methodology, data collection and processing, analysis, and presentation. The second year of the MGIS involves the completion of a Master's thesis. The degree may be awarded with Distinction or Merit. Candidates may exit the degree after Part 1 with a Postgraduate Diploma in GIS (PGDipGIS).
