Strategic Purpose Statement |
The TPP Certificate in Extractive Industries programme is for people who wish to enter the mining and surface extraction sector as managers, or for people in those industries who wish to advance to management positions, where a Certificate of competency is required.
The programme prepares graduates to apply for Certificates of Competency, including Senior Site Executive, under the Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Operations and Quarrying Operations) Regulations 2013. The programme requires completion of all of the unit standards required by the relevant Certificate of Competency and prepares learners for the oral examinations required by the New Zealand Mining Board of Examiners. Graduates will hold the: Any Qualification required for the relevant Certificate(s) of Competency. All unit standards set out in the relevant gazette notice for the chosen Certificate of Competency. |

Entry Requirements |
Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.5 or above. Where the number of applicants exceeds the positions available on the programme the following Selection Criteria will apply: preference will be given to applicants who are nominated or supported by an industry group or company. Special Entry may be granted where evidence exists that the applicant can successfully complete the programme. Please contact the Institution for details.
