Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduates will be leading Human Performance Science practitioners, capable of working interprofessionally to deliver research-based solutions that strengthen communities in New Zealand and Internationally. The Master of Science (Human Performance Science) is designed for those who wish to extend their undergraduate degree with highly specialised knowledge in sport and exercise science, clinical exercise physiology, rehabilitation and movement related professions. It is most suited to those who wish to continue to a doctoral programme or into higher level positions in the workforce.
Graduate profile
A graduate of the MScHP will: * Exhibit mastery of their specialist area and extended knowledge in a subject area of Human Performance Science. * Evaluate critically the findings and discussions in the literature. * Exhibit significant independent research capability and translate findings in to practice. * Demonstrate technical competence and the ability to manage ambiguity and complexity autonomously in a Human Performance setting. * Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in conceptual and critical thinking, reflection, problem solving and communication.
Education pathways
Graduates from relevant level degree programmes are eligible to apply for enrolment into this programme.
Graduates of the Master of Science (Human Performance Science) are positioned to pathway into programmes such as a PhD in associated areas (clinical, environmental or exercise physiology; rehabilitation; sports nutrition; sports psychology; strength and conditioning; youth athlete development) or a further Masters degree in an associated specialty (e.g. dietetics).
Employment pathways

Entry Requirements
A Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science with a minimum B grade (65%) in the third year; or A corresponding NZ Bachelor degree with a minimum B grade (65%) in the third year; or A Postgraduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science with a minimum B grade average; or A corresponding NZ Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum B grade average; or Equivalent. Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of 6.5 with no individual band score lower than 6.0; or equivalent.
