Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduates will have gained applied practical skills and theoretical knowledge of the Sport and Fitness Industry and be able to demonstrate and understanding of the structure and key components of the sport and fitness industry; effective communication and customer service techniques; legal parameters of the sport and fitness industry; develop and prescribe basic resistance/strength training programmes to individuals and a variety of groups. In addition, Graduates will have gained specific knowledge and skills depending on the selection of a further two modules from the following: Aerobic Training; Exercise Induction and Adherence; Nutrition and Health; Injury Prevention and Management or Advanced Exercise Training. The Exit Qualification Certificate in Fitness Fundamentals (Level 4) will provide skills and training for people to be employed on the front desk at sports facilities

Level

The NZQF has ten levels. Level one is least complex and is often entry-level, for example foundation certificates. Levels eight to ten are the most complex, and include post-graduate study.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
