Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates will be able to apply knowledge and skills in safe work practices and sustainable practices in a hairdressing salon; provide professional customer service and create a positive hairdressing customer service experience; know retail hair products and the merchandising and selling skills; key hairdressing skills such as colouring, hair ups, perming and foiling; classic and contemporary hair design; salon administration of making and recording customer appointments, banking, reconciliation and stock control; customer service skills, team work, time management, communication and self management skills; understanding of the nature and requirements of the range of career options in hairdressing and longer term career goals. Graduates will also be eligible to apply to NZQA for the award of the National Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) (Level 3) Graduates may pursue higher education and apply for entry to the Wintec Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 4) or alternatively use unit standards gained in the Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 3) to contribute towards the requirements of the National Certificate in Hairdressing (Professional Stylist). Graduates may seek employment in an apprenticeship role with a hairdressing salon.

Entry Requirements |
Minimum of 16 credits at NCEA Level 1, 8 of which must be English and 8 credits must be in Mathematics, or equivalent; or a qualification at Level 2 or higher in a related subject area.
Candidates may be required to attend an interview and must demonstrate a reasonable likelihood of success. Internationals IELTS Score of 5.5 with a minimum score of 5.0 in the written band. |
