Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduates of the Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5) are able to deliver nursing care and health education across the lifespan of health consumers in a variety of health care settings under the direction and delegation of a registered nurse. Graduates will work within the scope of practice of an Enrolled Nurse and will be able to safely apply knowledge and skills to deliver patient/client care across a range of health care settings; competently assess health status and perform appropriate interventions in a manner that supports best health outcomes for clients; establish, maintain and conclude therapeutic, interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively and communicate in oral, written and electronic mediums relevant to the interdisciplinary health care team; apply professional judgement, accountability and responsibility in ensuring that nursing practice and conduct meets professional, ethical and legal requirements and standards; practise in a manner that is culturally safe and promotes health, autonomy, self-determination and quality of life Graduates are eligible to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) for registration as an Enrolled Nurse. Graduates of this diploma will be competent to practise as a beginning level Enrolled Nurse in a variety of health care settings under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse. Graduates may pathway to the Bachelor of Nursing or to any other health professional degrees.
Entry Requirements
12 NCEA L1 credits in each of English & Maths & 36 NCEA L2 credits or demonstrate reasonable likelihood of success. Have/maintain current First Aid Certificate. Disclose any health/criminal issues. Internationals IELTS Score of 6.5 in all bands. IELTS test requirements must be achieved in each of the four bands, and completed within 12 months of first attempt.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
