SAC for the Literacy and Numeracy/Te Reo Maori Matatini me te Pāngarau Corequisites
Instructions on the provision of SAC for the assessment of these new Corequisites can be found via the Quicklinks on the NZQA SAC webpage at http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/sac
Please note that this applies for 2023 only at this stage.
Please email sac@nzqa.govt.nz if you have any queries.
Trialling text-to-speech and other assistive technologies
NZQA will continue the trial of text-to-speech (Polly) and other assistive technologies during the assessment of the Literacy and Numeracy Corequisites this year. You would have received an email with further information about the trial and a request to complete an Expression of Interest if you are keen to participate.
If you did not receive this email, please email litnum@nzqa.govt.nz and ask for a copy to be resent to you.
Please consider participating in this trial as this will support the progress to make these technologies widely available for digital assessment.
Students’ access to their SAC entitlements
Students can now access a list of their approved SAC entitlements via a link on their NZQA Learner Login page. A PDF is also available that students can use to confirm with tertiary providers which SAC they were entitled to at school.
A guide for students to access this link is attached. Please distribute this information to your students.
Draft SAC applications for 2024
Please do not create and save draft applications for 2024.
We are in the process of developing changes to the online SAC tool that will take effect later this year. It is possible that the information saved in 2024 draft applications may not be able to be used.
This has no impact on the saving of 2023 drafts or the submission of 2023 applications.
Upcoming SAC seminars
The seminar is for PNs, SENCOs, Learning Support Coordinators and other learning support including RTLB.
- The first part of this Seminar will focus on the implications for SAC as a result of the changes to NCEA from 2024 as well as the provision of support for students being assessed for the Corequisites. This information is important for all schools.
- The second part of the Seminar will focus on the current application process and is aimed at new or inexperienced SENCOs.
There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
Some of the seminars are still to be confirmed (tbc).
