This entry-level unit standard is for people who are employed in a rabbit processing operation to carry out post-mortem examinations of rabbit products used for human consumption.
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate understanding of: anatomical features of rabbit viscera and carcasses; the purpose of rabbit products post-mortem examination, and the examination techniques and presentation standards used in post-mortem examination; the causes and the spread of disease within the body of a rabbit; the disease states and their effect on the fitness for intended purpose of rabbit products; the post-mortem appearance and the judgement and dispositions for diseases and defects generic to rabbits; and the powers and obligations of examiners when carrying out rabbit material and rabbit product examinations.
