People credited with this unit standard are able to describe: food components, nutritional requirements, diets, and feeding of dogs; health, variations to normal health and behaviour, the oestrus cycle, mating, and situations requiring isolation; infectious diseases and parasites of dogs, and their prevention and control programmes.
They are also able to describe the ideal condition of a dog, and carry out routine health procedures for a dog; and, identify and describe ideal features of commercial dog housing.
