This unit standard is for personnel who are required to supervise a crew engaged in the light-up and patrol of prescribed burning operations and for burning out operations at wild fires.
People credited with this unit standard are able to:
. demonstrate knowledge of vegetation burning equipment;
. demonstrate knowledge of lighting-up patterns and ignition techniques;
. supervise a lighting-up crew;
. assess fire environment and fire behaviour during lighting-up operations; and
. communicate during a vegetation burning operation.
