Recognition statements

Find out which recognition statements we issue.

We issue electronic recognition statements to show the results of:

  • an International Qualification Assessment (IQA) or
  • an Overseas Study Assessment (OSA).

How it works

We will notify you by email once your qualification is evaluated. You will be able to download a PDF file of your IQA or OSA recognition statement by logging into your account.

You can then print this statement or send it to the relevant authorities. You should also save a copy for your records.

Your recognition statement is valid indefinitely. It will be available on your online dashboard for 10 years for IQAs and 5 years for OSAs.

IQA or OSA applications submitted before 10 February 2020

If you require a copy of your recognition statement for an application submitted before 10 February 2020:

Download the Recognition statement reissue request form [PDF, 75 KB]

Complete the form and email it with a copy of your passport bio data (the section of your passport that shows your photograph, name, date of birth, and nationality).

Submit the reissue request form

Copies of recognition statements will be provided as electronic copes. We do not provide printed copies.

We hold records for 10 years for IQAs, and for 5 years for OSAs from the date of completion.

Verifying a recognition statement

Organisations such as Immigration NZ, potential employers and education providers can verify the authenticity of your recognition statement online. This process only verifies the authenticity of the recognition statement – it does not verify the authenticity of the qualification itself.

Re-evaluating qualifications

If you want to appeal the outcome of your evaluation, you need to apply for an appeal within 3 months of the published date on the recognition statement. You can contact us to discuss the outcome of your recognition statement before deciding to submit a review.

Contact us about an IQA appeal

We will refund an appeal fee, less an administration fee of NZ$55, if the qualification recognition outcome changes, and only if no documents with new information were submitted after the original evaluation.

Appeals outside the 3-month appeal period

Your recognition statement is valid indefinitely.

Our recognition practice is updated regularly to reflect international benchmarks and good practice. This may result in a different recognition outcome.

You can apply for a new IQA if you believe our updated recognition practice may result in a different outcome for you. You will need to pay the usual IQA fee.
