NCEA and the Whānau

NCEA and the Whānau is a NZQA led workshop programme designed to help Māori whānau to better understand NCEA.

When parents and whānau understand NCEA and are engaged in their child’s learning journeys, they are more likely to succeed.

What will I learn in the workshop?

The NCEA and the Whānau workshops cover basic NCEA information including:

  • What is NCEA and how many credits are required?
  • What subjects can credits come from?
  • How do I make sure my child is on the right track?
  • What is University Entrance (UE) and how does my child get it?
  • What questions can I ask my school?

You will also have a chance to ask any questions you might have.

Attending a workshop - in person or online

There are two ways to attend an NCEA and the Whānau workshop. You can either attend in person or online. If you think that your school would benefit from hosting a workshop we can make contact with them, just send an email with the name of your school to nceaandthewhanau@nzqa.govt.nz.
