NCEA ma le Pasifika Workshops

Talofa lava, mālo e lelei, fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, ni sa bula vinaka, talofa ni, halo ola geta, and warm Pacific greetings.

NCEA is the National Certificate of Educational Achievement.  It is the main qualification for New Zealand secondary school learners and students and it is a very important qualification.

NCEA ma le Pasifika is a workshop designed especially for Pasifika parents and learners, and provides a good, straightforward understanding of what NCEA at secondary school is all about, and how you can help your children to succeed.

Here is what Pasifika parents have said after attending a workshop:-

“Fantastic overview of NCEA – especially in informing us parents about what and how we can help our child to succeed at school”

“Very informative and motivational. Good info on how to support our children”

“I come with very little knowledge about NCEA and am now leaving with very useful information about NCEA”

“Awesome presentation, so helpful and informative.  I will be promoting this to as many other Pacific (and all other) parents”

Why are we offering these workshops?

NZQA would like to help you support your children as they move through their secondary education.

At the workshop you will receive quality information, ideas and tips to help you understand NCEA, so that you can discuss it with your child.  The workshop will help you guide your child in choosing subjects, understanding the types of assessment, gaining credits, achieving high grades and making good career choices.  This information will also be helpful to you when you discuss your child’s progress and achievement with teachers at their school.

These workshops are part of the Government initiative to raise student achievement, at all levels, for all students, especially Pasifika.

These workshops are led by NZQA, and supported by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs and Careers NZ.

How can I attend a workshop?

Contact your secondary school Pasifika advisor as there may be a workshop organised in your area. Or contact Fritz or Rose as we have details of upcoming workshops.

If you would like your own workshop for your church, community or school parents group, again call Fritz or Rose (see below) and let us know where and when you would like to hold it.

We will organise and bring along resources, so all you need to do is come along, and make sure all the other Pasifika parents and learners come along too.
