Strategic Purpose Statement |
The National Certificate in Business Administration (Level 4) recognises the knowledge, skills, understanding, attitudes, and values required for business administration and related information technology roles. The structure of the qualification reflects the diversity of roles in the workplace and incorporates options for recognising a broad range of business administration competence, and knowledge and skills required of administrators working in specialised roles.
The core compulsory component of the qualification recognises underpinning skills, knowledge, and competence expected of all business administration role holders. The alternative ways of obtaining the qualification provide opportunities for users to select the qualification pathway that meets their work role or personal needs. The general strand provides flexibility for the user to tailor the qualification to meet individual work role or personal needs through selection from an extensive list of elective options. The business information processing strand recognises the competence required in text processing and computing business administration roles. The business administration services strand recognises the competence required in receptionist, secretarial, personal assistant, and executive assistant roles. A feature of this strand is that users require shorthand or dictaphone competence to meet work role expectations. The business procedures strand recognises the competence required in business administration, financial services, and clerical roles. This certificate builds on the National Certificate in Business Administration and Computing (Level 2) and the majority of the unit standards recommended in the entry information are part of the Level 2 qualification. The National Certificate in Business Administration (Level 4) provides a pathway to the National Diploma in Business Administration (Level 5) and recognition is given in that qualification to the skills, knowledge, and competence required in a range of business administration services and business information management roles. |
