Strategic Purpose Statement |
The National Certificate in Youth Work (Level 4) [Ref: 0669] is a qualification for people who are working or wish to work as paid or unpaid youth workers in youth organisations. Some of these people may be or may have been youth leaders who wish to become youth workers, and who are contributing to the implementation of youth programmes and projects under professional and managerial supervision.
People awarded this qualification are able to establish and maintain relationships with young people within a framework of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, ethics, and relevant legislation. They can participate in teams and groups in youth work settings with a focus on the development and safety of young people. Their work is informed by knowledge of alcohol and drug issues, human development, health, law, leadership, and safety management. This is the base qualification for youth workers. It leads on to the National Diploma in Youth Work (Level 6) [Ref: 0670], which is the national qualification for professional youth work. Some of the standards included in this qualification are also in the National Diploma. |
