Graduates of this programme will be able to:
Create and evaluate aesthetic digital or physical artefacts that demonstrate professional technical facility, understanding of visual organisation, interaction and narrative principles, and critical awareness of the physical, cognitive, cultural and social human factors that shape design decisions; . Analyse, challenge, experiment the synthesise concepts, principles, contexts, media, and/or technologies from across design disciplines to develop, assess and revive creative responses to briefs and initiate opportunities for self-learning; . Evaluate, debate and revise design decisions, methods and philosophies in a coherent , structures, constructive and persuasive manner both verbally and in written form, as well as format and present information according to professional and academic conventions; . Independently research, assess, learn, apply, speculate and report on new and emerging concepts, contexts, processes, technologies, media and/or markets within their field . Synthesise knowledge and skills to independently or collaboratively formulate, implement, record, assess, revise and present research projects addressing critical contexts related to their professional domain. . NCEA University Entrance or equivalent CIE/IB grades, OR . Successfully completed a Media Design School Qualification, Level 5 or higher, OR . Discretionary entrance, where the applicant has signafant art and design skills and experience, PLUS . Evidence of creative abilities via Portfolio of work |

Entry Requirements |
For applicants over 20 years of age may have the above requirements waived by the Admissions Board if they can demonstrate suitable experience. For students who have English as a second language, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent is required.

A Systematic introduction to a broad body of knowledge in the domain of media design as the vehichle to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to work independetly or collaborate across disciplines within that domain. Skills and attitudes to complete self-management of learning and performance to solve fixed briefs within a set timeframe. Methods to gather and analyse relevant contextual information for the purposes of preparing to undertake an investigatory project. Abilities to rationalise and constructively reflect on design decisions in a coherent, structured and persuasive manner both verbally and in written form. Opportunities to integrate independent research of new concepts, contexts, processes, technologies, media and/or markets within the industry.
