Strategic Purpose Statement
The Graduate Diploma of Tertiary Education aims to develop capable tertiary teachers who are personally effective, future focussed, and able to practice sustainably. Graduates will be able to design and facilitate inclusive learning in the tertiary cultural context in which they will be practising. Graduates will design, develop and deliver high quality learning experiences using a variety of approaches, reflecting on professional teaching practice, for the purpose of supporting improved learner outcomes.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be capable tertiary educators who will be able to:
Analyse and employ learning and teaching strategies using applied, authentic, and learner-centred practices informed by relevant educational theories and research;
Design and deliver inclusive curriculum to address the diverse needs of learners within the cultural context in which the graduates will be practicing;
Construct and implement effective assessment practices for assessing learner progress and achievement in a range of contexts;
Employ reflective processes to improve practice and maintain professional currency and capability.

Graduates of this programme may seek entry to programmes at higher levels in the same subject domain.
Entry Requirements
Entry is open to degree graduates. However, those who have been able to demonstrate equivalent practical, professional or educational experience of an appropriate kind may be granted admission. International Students:
International students must meet the minimum academic entry criteria and the English language requirements as identified in the approved Programme Document. English language requirements for International students and students from non-English speaking backgrounds: In addition to meeting the same entry criteria as those listed above, International students and those for whom English is a second language must also meet the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (academic version) language requirements - Overall band score (Academic) of 6.0 IELTS, with no individual score less than 6.0.

Level

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
