Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification is for people already working as a main contract supervisor in a construction related industry, or for people who want to move into the role.

The qualification is designed to provide the construction industry with trained people who have the essential knowledge, skills and aptitude required to be a main contract supervisor on construction projects.

The skill outcomes support the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment Licensed Building Practitioner Scheme, providing eligibility for a streamlined application process toward the Site Licence Classes 1 and 2.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply a broad range of technical, theoretical and operational knowledge of current building and construction practices as they apply to the construction of medium buildings, in a supervisory role.
- Supervise workers and subcontractors through effective communication, professionalism and planning to the completion of their portion of a medium building construction project, to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected in a commercial environment.
Education pathways
This certificate leads on from the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Related Trades (Supervisor) (Level 4) [Ref: 2381], and could lead to further study at diploma or degree level in the field of Management, Quantity Surveying, Architectural Technology or any other building and construction related fields.
Entry Requirements
It is expected that candidates for this qualification will have existing knowledge and skills in the trade that they will be supervising. In addition, the award of The New Zealand Certificate in Construction Related Trades (Supervisor) (Level 4) or the demonstration of equivalent knowledge and skills, is a prerequisite for entry to this qualification.
