Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification is for people who wish to undertake indentured workplace training towards industry trade certification and registration in watch and clock making.
Graduates of this qualification will benefit New Zealand by ensuring there is a watch and clock making and repair workforce in New Zealand. Typically, this qualification will be gained over a four year period of indentured workplace training. Graduates of this qualification will be able to operate to industry standards and will meet the requirements for industry trade certification and registration with the Jewellery Industry Registration Board of New Zealand (JIRBNZ). |

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Recognise hazards and maintain safety within a watch or clock making workshop. - Apply technical knowledge and skills in carrying out repairs to watches or clocks. - Apply technical knowledge and skills in making watch or clock parts. - Provide customer services in the context of watch or clock making. - Complete business processes including stock control and accounting records. |

Education pathways |
The qualification provides a pathway to the:
- New Zealand Diploma in Jewellery (Level 5) [Ref: 2646] - New Zealand Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 5) [Ref: 2636], or above. Graduates of this qualification may wish to undertake further tertiary study at diploma or degree level in the fields of creative arts or business. |

Entry Requirements |
Applicants to programmes of study leading to the award of this qualification must have 42 credits at Level 1 or above from the Directory of Assessment Standards (DAS), or equivalent skills and/or knowledge.
