Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification is intended for people who have significant operational experience in the horticulture industry, or who are capable of transferring their prior skills and knowledge in a specific horticulture production operation.

It recognises the skills and knowledge of individuals who can manage horticulture production operations. Graduates will be able to working work autonomously and may be managing others.

The qualification includes strands that recognise the distinct skills and knowledge for specific horticulture production sectors.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply knowledge of leadership and relationship management to engage with team members and clients using a range of effective interpersonal skills relevant to a horticulture sector.

Graduates of the Fruit Production strand will also be able to:
- Plan and manage sustainable fruit production tasks to achieve production goals and standards.
- Plan and manage a sustainable fruit crop protection programme to meet production goals and standards.
- Plan and manage sustainable fruit crop management techniques to optimise fruit production.

Graduates of the Indoor Crop Production strand will also be able to:
- Plan and manage seasonal tasks to achieve production goals and standards for indoor crop production.
- Apply knowledge of environmental factors and sustainable practices to plan and manage indoor crop production systems, to optimise crop performance and yield.

Graduates of the Nursery Production strand will also be able to:
- Plan and manage operational activities to achieve organisational goals in a nursery operation.
- Apply knowledge of environmental factors and sustainable practices to plan and manage nursery production systems, to optimise production.

Graduates of the Outdoor Crop Production strand will also be able to:
- Plan and manage seasonal tasks to achieve production goals and standards for outdoor crop production.
- Apply knowledge of environmental factors and sustainable practices to plan and manage outdoor crop production systems, to optimise crop performance and yield.

Graduates of the Post-Harvest strand will also be able to:
- Plan and manage post-harvest operations to achieve production goals.
- Plan and manage post-harvest quality standards to achieve production goals.

Graduates of the Wine Growing strand will also be able to:
- Plan and manage sustainable wine growing operations to achieve grape quality specifications.
- Plan and manage a sustainable wine grape protection programme to achieve grape quality specifications.
- Manage sustainable wine growing techniques to achieve desirable wine quality.
