Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Design learning that is pedagogically and culturally appropriate to meet literacy and numeracy needs of learners. - Facilitate quality learner-centred teaching that respects the mana and diverse cultural backgrounds of adult learners, and the wider educational and societal context. - Plan and use a range of adult literacy and numeracy education facilitation and learning strategies, including technology-enhanced teaching and learning. - Produce and use adult literacy and numeracy education diagnostic, formative and summative assessment tools to identify specific learner needs and strengths. - Evaluate and reflect on own literacy and numeracy teaching practice and explore options to improve it. |

This qualification may lead to Level 5 and above qualifications in adult and tertiary teaching. This may include the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) [Ref: 2993], the New Zealand Diploma in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 6) [Ref: 2756], the New Zealand Diploma in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (Level 6) [Ref: 2747], the New Zealand Certificate in Learning Design (Level 6) [Ref: 2749], or the New Zealand Certificate in Education Technology (Level 6) [Ref: 2748].

Entry Requirements |
It is highly recommended that the candidate has a relevant adult and tertiary teaching qualification at Level 4 or above or has equivalent knowledge and skills prior to entering into this qualification.
