Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification is designed for people new to the radio broadcasting industry or considering a career in radio broadcasting or related converged media industries and environments.

Graduates will have the skills, knowledge and attributes to operate with supervision, as useful contributors in the industry. This includes the attributes necessary to contribute to a bi- and multi-cultural environment in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Create and present information and entertainment content for use in radio broadcasting and related media environments that meets legal and ethical requirements.
- Apply relevant media production business practice to production processes.
- Research and analyse the social, political, economic, cultural and historical conditions relevant in the radio broadcasting and related media environments, to inform radio broadcasting and media practice.
- Work reliably, independently and collaboratively in order to operate effectively in a professional media environment.

This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Communication Media (Level 4) [Ref: 3206].

This qualification leads to the New Zealand Diploma in Radio Broadcasting (Level 6) [Ref: 3211].

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
