This programme is designed to equip students with personal, physical fitness, and technical skills and knowledge to apply for entry into the NZ Police Force or armed forces.

Qualification Specific Outcomes
Graduates of this programme seeking employment in law enforcement will have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to increase the likelihood of their being accepted for training, further training, or employment particularly in the New Zealand Police, armed forces, or correction services. Skills include: literacy and numeracy, self-management, physical fitness, computing and communication. Graduates will be well equipped to engage in higher level study in any law enforcement service area. Specific Graduate Outcomes By the time students have successfully completed the programme, they will, as graduates, be able to: demonstrate knowledge of police roles demonstrate the required levels or improved performances in physical strength and fitness required for Police entry training demonstrate competency in interpersonal and written communication skills such as listening, reading and comprehension, writing and memory skills, across a wide range of topics demonstrate observation and problem solving skills demonstrate skills in mathematical, general and special ability demonstrate defensive driving skills manage assertiveness, personal presentation, anger, and stress demonstrate knowledge of interacting with other cultures demonstrate knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi demonstrate knowledge of New Zealand laws and offences provide first aid and basic life support operate a computer, and demonstrate keyboard skills. Students will have skills in: communication basic computing, first aid dealing with a wide variety of people detailed observation decision making test procedures And attitudes of self-control and alertness confidence in presenting themselves being positive about themselves self motivation confidentiality honesty and integrity |

Graduates of this programme may be eligible to apply for entry into a variety of further / higher tertiary education and training programmes relating to this field of study offered by a number of tertiary education providers, for example the:
National Certificate in Sport Level 3 National Certificate in Fitness Level 3 (Group Fitness Instruction) New Zealand Police College Recruit Training Navy, Army, Airforce within New Zealand Defence Forces. |
