Strategic Purpose Statement |
The purpose of the Bachelor of Software Engineering - Creative is to provide a targeted programme of study in a clearly defined sub-sector of the ICT industry to generate creative, adaptive, and diverse software specialists, who have acquired holistic understanding of the software development lifecycle. This is achieved through consistent collaborative investigation and learning in integrated, transdisciplinary teams to produce high quality, user-centric software products.
A fundamental purpose of this degree is to fill a skill gap in the software development sector, through development of graduates who are commercially and creatively driven to use their expertise to increase New Zealand's standing on the global software stage. |

1. Employ critical understanding of business and management practices for professional software projects and environments.
2. Apply a range of interpersonal, professional and academic communication approaches to optimise opportunities, relationships and outcomes with stakeholders. 3. Operate with professionalism, self-awareness and social sensitivity, in culturally and gender-diverse teams. 4. Identify and fulfil self-learning needs through proactive engagement in a range of approaches to personal and professional development, including disciplined self-reflection and soliciting the views of others. 5. Exercise imaginative entrepreneurial skills to devise creative and viable software concepts, through independent and collective approaches to idea generation. 6. Every applicant must be approved for admission by the Programme Leader or their delegate, under advisement from the Programme Committee responsible for the programme being applied for.
