Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification will provide individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to operate under indirect supervision in roles across the sport, recreation and exercise industries.
Graduates will be able to operate within a framework of health and wellness in relation to individuals, groups and community needs. Graduates will contribute to the cultural, social and economic wellbeing of Aotearoa New Zealand. |

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Promote the benefits of sport, recreation and exercise activities, programmes and/or events to individuals, groups and/or communities using industry knowledge, concepts and trends. - Plan, monitor and role model safe, ethical and professional practices and procedures for self and others while operating within sport, recreation and/or exercise environments. - Perform tasks and activities within own scope of practice to achieve sport, recreation and exercise outcomes for individuals, groups and/or communities. - Assist in developing a range of sport, recreation and/or exercise activities, programmes and/or events to meet the needs of individuals, groups and/or communities. - Apply principles of exercise science to deliver health and wellness solutions to meet the needs of individuals, groups and/or communities. - Deliver a range of sport, recreation and/or exercise activities, programmes and/or events for individuals, groups and/or communities. |

This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Multi-sector) (Level 3) [Ref: 3625].
This qualification may also build on the New Zealand Certificate in Sport Officiating (Level 3) [Ref: 3227] or the New Zealand Certificate in Sport Coaching (Level 3) [Ref: 3228]. This qualification may provide a pathway to the New Zealand Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Multi-sector) (Level 5) [Ref: 3627], the New Zealand Certificate in Sport and Recreation (Programme Management) (Level 5) [Ref: 3574], or the New Zealand Certificate in Sport and Recreation (Community Development) (Level 5) [Ref: 3572]. |
