Strategic Purpose Statement
The Graduate Diploma of Web Design and Development is a qualification designed to prepare graduates for employment as professional web developers. Students will develop knowledge and skills that will enable them to specialise in web design and development.
Graduate profile
Development, all graduates will be able to:

1. Research, evaluate and apply advanced web design and development methodologies and techniques in relation to current technologies.
2. Apply technical and conceptual thinking to research, design and develop a range of real-world web design and development problems.
3. Apply communication, information design, personal, and interpersonal skills, clearly and professionally to enhance working effectiveness, efficiency, and quality outcomes within their professional practice.
4. Demonstrate an enquiring, flexible, creative and critical attitude towards contemporary issues and underlying theoretical concepts as emerging professional web developers.
5. Demonstrate an awareness of social and ethical issues and have the ability to function positively in a culturally diverse professional environment.
Education pathways
Graduates of this qualification may undertake study towards postgraduate study.
Entry Requirements
An undergraduate degree; OR a 2-year Level 7 or above diploma in a related discipline or equivalent; OR a minimum 3 years' equivalent relevant experience. Equivalent relevant practical and/or professional experience must be evidenced through the submission of a curriculum vitae detailing relevant work experience and professional achievements.

For international applicants who come from non-English speaking backgrounds, an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5, or an equivalent relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF-related rules (Rule 18).

For domestic applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
