-The aim of the qualification is to provide students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful professional development at graduate level. For registered health professionals this will enable them to remain up to date with new technology and developments in the field and/or meet relevant competency requirements.

By meeting the competencies of New Zealand Board of Dialysis Practice (NZBDP) the graduates on successful completion of Graduate Diploma in Health Science and Technology (Renal Physiologist) will provide competent and safe clinical dialysis care and advanced technical management.
On completion of the programme, graduates are eligible to apply to the New Zealand Clinical Physiologist Registration Board for registration as a Clinical physiologist - renal.

-Graduates can progress to postgraduate study in relevant fields.

Applicants must meet the following entry requirements: Hold a relevant Bachelor's degree OR Have a relevant professional qualification or experience approved by the Director of Practice or their representative, to demonstrate ability to study at level 7 AND Have completed a minimum of 30 credits study at level 5 in Human Bioscience and Anatomy and Physiology or equivalent. AND Have English competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. here Any applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 6.5 (with no score below 6.5) or equivalent. AND * Provide a completed medical declaration and/or evidence of a current health certificate from a registered health practitioner, indicating ability to practice safely and to be physically capable of meeting the practical aspects of the programme. * Each applicant will be required to declare all criminal convictions and pending convictions, and submit a New Zealand Police Consent to Disclosure of Information form with their application. This will be sent to the Police Licensing and Vetting Service if the applicant is accepted into the programme and is returned in confidence to the Director of Nursing.
