Strategic Purpose Statement |
The Diploma in Networking (Level 7) prepares learners for professional positions in the specialised areas of computer networking, or for further studies in the fields of computer networks and Information Technology.
The programme is aimed at learners with prior qualifications or experience in the areas of computer networking and Information Technology and who wish to acquire specific knowledge and skills to pursue a specialist career in Computer Networks in New Zealand, or for further studies in this area |

On completion of this qualification, graduates will be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and skills in computer network design, maintenance and support. Specifically, the graduates of this qualification will be able to:
* Build secure computer networks to achieve organisational outcomes and service management strategy for small to medium enterprises. * Propose creative and practical solutions to unfamiliar and complex organisational computer network problems. * Demonstrate ethical and professional behaviour contributing positively to the society in New Zealand. * Apply industry standards and best practice |

Entry Requirements |
A candidate for admission to this programme of study shall:
a. Have attained a minimum age of 18 years; And b. Have an English equivalent of IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5; or equivalent as approved and set out in the NZQA Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules; And c. Have completed at least a Level 6 Diploma in Networking or related area; or New Zealand Diploma in IT Technical Support (Level 5); or have at least two years of work experience in ICT related areas at a technician level; or equivalent. Explanation of equivalence: the 'or equivalent' clause has been included to cover candidates applying for admission with overseas qualifications equivalent to a Level 6 Diploma in Networking or related area; or any industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional, etc. This ensures that comparable qualifications and industry certifications are considered while assessing eligibility of the candidate to undertake the programme of study. |
