Strategic Purpose Statement |
This qualification will provide the dive industry with dive supervisors who can independently manage and control the needs and welfare of groups of certified divers. Graduates are able to manage safety and implement industry good practice standards for diving trips and underwater tours in accordance with the ethical and professional responsibilities of a dive supervisor.
This qualification allows for graduates to build on their dive knowledge and practice through specialising in additional dive competencies through the completion of an optional strand. Graduates who achieve an optional strand, will also be able to assist the master of a dive vessel, operate dive plant and service equipment, or conduct dive sales and merchandising, dependent on strand selection. |

Graduate profile |
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Supervise diving activities for certified divers as permitted within scope of statutory requirements. - Maintain safety and adopt industry best practice standards when conducting dive trips and when guiding certified divers on underwater tours. - Undertake the professional and ethical responsibilities of a dive supervisor. Graduates of the Dive Plant Operator and Service Technician strand will also be able to: - Service, repair and carry out maintenance of dive equipment. Graduates of the Dive Vessel Operations strand will also be able to: - Perform all roles and responsibilities of a crew member to the master during dive vessel operations. Graduates of the Dive Sales and Merchandising strand will also be able to: - Advise customers on the selection of safe diving equipment, dive training organisation programmes and diving experiences. |
