A graduate of the MNSc(Pre-reg) will: * Exhibit capable and resilient practice in relational and reflexive ways responding to the hauora needs of health consumers, whanau and communities, underpinned by the intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice * Critically evaluate conceptual and evidence bases for practice and use reflexive strategies to understand the complexity of health and illness experiences from the health consumer's perspective * Demonstrate critical awareness of epidemiology, population health, inequities in health and wider societal influences, and respond appropriately to improve hauora * Practice effective clinical reasoning and decision-making with health consumers and interprofessional colleagues that reflects collaboration, creativity and leadership in complex and rapidly changing healthcare settings * Exhibit a high level of critical information literacy in practice and demonstrate understanding of the impact of rapidly changing technology and expanding knowledge on healthcare * Exhibit self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and recognition of the impact of practitioners' actions within the cultural, social and emotional contexts of health consumers' lives * Critically explore, analyse and articulate rangahau or research and translate findings into healthcare practice

Education pathways |
Graduates from relevant level degree programmes who meet the entry requirements are eligible to apply for enrolment into this programme. Graduates with a non-science degree must complete an online science preparation component prior to commencement of the programme.
Please note: NCNZ is currently undertaking scoping exercises in registered nurse community prescribing preparation, education for internationally qualified nurses and a review of the registered nurse scope of practice. The outcome of these scoping exercises has the potential to lead to new and innovative ways for nurses to practice and new education and practice pathways that are currently unknown. Graduates of the MNSc(Pre-reg) programme are positioned to pathway, with the potential to receive cross credit, to enter postgraduate programmes at Wintec including: * Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing, as a pathway to NCNZ registered Nurse Prescriber, * Master of Nursing, as a pathway to NCNZ registration in the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice or advanced nursing practice or a research dissertation, or Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) |

Entry Requirements |
Entry into the Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) programme is via a recognised bachelor's degree with a minimum 65% in the third year of their qualifying degree; which is considered relevant to health science or appropriate health or allied professional qualification Wintec currently offers opportunities for individuals to undertake a number of degrees that may qualify as entry points. Candidates with relevant or equivalent qualifications from other institutions may also apply to gain entry. Candidates who have not previously studied science or health science will have the opportunity to complete an online science preparation prior to commencement of the Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) programme. Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) Academic band score of 7.0 with no individual band score less than 7.0 or equivalent. The English proficiency requirements are in response to stakeholder consultation which request students undertake Clinical Practicum from Semester 1. Clinical Practicum requires students to communicate effectively in practice including responding in rapidly changing situations and emergencies. Candidates must complete their application for selection at least two months prior to the commencement of the programme. Applications received after this point will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates may be required to attend an individual interview as part of the selection process.
