Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide competent individuals for the dairy processing sector who are able to work in operational and technical leadership job roles. This may include managing the production of products such as cheese, ice cream, milk powder, milk protein, drinking milk, or involved in assessing available technology that relates to dairy processing performance.

The qualification is stranded into operational leadership and dairy technology contexts. It recognises the skills and knowledge of individuals who can manage dairy processing operations and lead process improvements.

The qualification supports career opportunities for those individuals who are working independently as supervisors in a dairy processing operation.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Provide leadership and relationship management for a team in a dairy processing industry operation

Graduates of the Operational Leadership strand will also be able to:
- Manage compliance with product quality standards in a dairy processing operation.
- Manage health and safety, environmental and sustainability practices in a dairy processing operation.
- Manage the product safety programme in a dairy processing operation.
- Manage plant operations in a dairy processing operation.
- Manage cross training to improve the competence of staff in a dairy processing operation.

Graduates of the Dairy Technology strand will also be able to:
- Investigate technical aspects of a dairy processing operation to determine performance issues.
