Strategic Purpose Statement
Graduates will have advanced creative knowledge, skills and applications in composition, production design and technical applications to advance and promote the professional status of new Māori works and performance to, and for, diverse audiences, sectors and settings at local, regional, national and international levels.
Graduate profile
Graduates will be able to:
- integrate advanced technical expertise to inform indigenous storytelling through composition, performance, and production.
- demonstrate an in-depth understanding, higher-level knowledge, and skills in management and administration techniques to produce relevant and viable minor productions.
- apply critical thinking and decision-making to contribute to systems underpinning the staging of creative, and, or original Māori works.
Education pathways
Graduates may progress to a Level 7 bachelor's degree qualifications in creative arts, Māori performance, production and, or, Arts administration and management, Māori culture and heritage.
Entry Requirements
Applicants seeking to enrol must meet the admission and eligibility criteria of Te Wānanga Whare Tapere o Takitimu (Takitimu):
a) 18 years or older at time of enrolment, and;
b) have demonstrated suitability and capability in Māori Performance, or Māori Art forms at Level 7; and,
c) a New Zealand qualification in Creative Arts for Māori/Non-Māori Performance at level 6 or above, or equivalent
d) demonstrated commitment to uphold the kaupapa of Takitimu; and,
e) have provided a performance portfolio demonstrating evidence of creative practice and process; and,
f) have provided a curriculum vitae outlining educational and employment achievements.
