Strategic Purpose Statement |
The Master of Teaching and Learning program aims to cultivate teachers with a deep, critical understanding of the essential principles of early childhood education. This program will facilitate the development of expertise and skills vital for teaching, emphasizing the application of professional knowledge and skills to authentic examples of practice. Throughout the program, ākonga will engage in an advanced exploration of theory, pedagogy, and research in early childhood education. They will have opportunities to critically analyse current literature and research, refining their teaching practice to create innovative strategies that support the learning and development of tamariki. The program includes blocks of field practice placements, allowing ākonga to further hone their expertise and achieve comprehensive theoretical and practical outcomes in a range of early childhood settings in Aotearoa. Moreover, ākonga will be encouraged to pursue independent research and inquiry, enabling them to connect learning with practice. This approach enhances their ability to uphold and deliver high-quality programs to tamariki within the early childhood education sector. By the end of the program, graduates will be well-equipped to make meaningful contributions to and impact educational leadership among key stakeholders in early childhood settings.
