Strategic Purpose Statement |
The Poutokomanawa Reo Māori (Postgraduate Certificate in Te Reo Māori) aims to develop graduates with an advanced level of proficiency in te reo Māori, enabling them to converse with fluent speakers and engage confidently in academic, professional, and cultural contexts. Through an immersive and deep exploration of the language, students will refine their linguistic and conversational skills, deepen their understanding of expression of whakaaro Māori, and apply their knowledge in a range of te reo Māori settings. Graduates will be well-equipped to contribute to the revitalisation and flourishing of te reo Māori within their whānau, hapū, iwi, or communities; whether in education, research, or leadership roles. The course provides valuable skill development for teachers of te reo Māori and / or those teaching in te reo Māori. It also serves as a pathway for further postgraduate study particularly to the Poutāhū Reo Māori, (Postgraduate Diploma in Te Reo Māori) at Te Wānanga o Raukawa.
