The aim of the Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Asset Management is to develop capable practitioners who can contribute confidently to the planning, operation, and stewardship of infrastructure assets across Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally. The programme supports ākonga with prior academic or professional experience who are situated in a workplace or community environment that is relevant to, and capable of supporting their study in infrastructure asset management. Graduates gain applied knowledge and practical skills in planning, data-informed decision-making, lifecycle management, and collaborative practice, enabling them to support resilient and sustainable infrastructure.

By the completion of this programme graduates will be able to:
1. Develop, implement, and support infrastructure asset lifecycle and risk management practices using data, analytics, and performance metrics, incorporating Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Matauranga Māori.
2. Apply legislation, standards, ethical responsibilities and financial analysis, to ensure robust, transparent, sustainable and culturally responsive infrastructure asset management practice.
3. Communicate with stakeholders while demonstrating autonomy, accountability, leadership, and a commitment to partnership approaches that uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Mātauranga Māori, and Te Ao Māori and promote inclusive organisational practice.
4. Integrate environmental, social, cultural, and economic sustainability into infrastructure asset management systems to enhance service levels and equitable outcomes for communities.

This qualification may lead to further study in Professional Practice, such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice or the Master of Professional Practice: or further study in Asset Management, such as postgraduate study in Infrastructure Asset Management at the University of Auckland.

Academic Entry Criteria
The minimum academic entry criteria is an undergraduate degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Facilities Management, Planning, or a closely related field. OR

Alternative Entry
For those who do not meet the academic entry requirement but have significant industry experience:
Five years' professional experience in infrastructure asset management, engineering, facilities management, planning, or related fields. This must be supported by a CV or employer attestation/s. OR
Those who do not meet the academic entry criteria or have no professional experience may be eligible to enter the programme following successful completion of Apōpō digital badges and/or completion of a Level 6 Infrastructure Asset Management qualification.

Compulsory Additional Entry Requirements
Applicants must be situated in a workplace or community environment (employed or voluntary) that is relevant to, and capable of supporting their study in infrastructure asset management. The appropriateness of the assets and access must be agreed to by the Head of School.

English language entry requirements
In addition to meeting the entry criteria outlined as above, the following criterion also applies:
All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those applicants whose first language is not English should have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall Academic score of at least 6.0 issued within the last two years with no less than 5.5 in any band or equivalent.
