Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates from this programme will have the fundamental construction skills required for a wide range of building construction tasks. They will be able to select and use a comprehensive range of carpentry hand tools, portable power tools and machinery safely. Identify, select and correctly install the appropriate building materials and fastening systems. Interpret working drawings to obtain dimensions. Set out elements and components of a specified structure. Use materials and dispose of waste material with environment considerations. Describe steps in the process of constructing a, 3 bedroom single level residential timber framed building Install appliances/fixtures. Investigate, record and present information individually and in groups using different methods, including multimedia and digital. Follow and give instruction both written and oral. Demonstrate appropriate work ethic and attitudes. Describe and practice health and safety in the building industry. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of building, employment and other building related legislation.
