Strategic Purpose Statement
The principal aims of the Master of Fine Arts course are: To enable students to deepen their creative practice through advanced studio research and relevant contextual inquiry To critically position their creative practice within contemporary fine arts discourse and practice both nationally and internationally To develop an independent and sustainable creative practice which makes an innovative and original contribution to relevant fields.
Graduate profile
On completion of the Master of Fine Arts degree graduates are able to;
Analyse, evaluate and position a contemporary fine arts practice in national and international cultural contexts, demonstrating significant intellectual and creative independence

* Communicate fine art ideas in relevant contemporary cultural contexts through the dissemination of their work on multiple public platforms (via gallery/museum based and online exhibition, publication, artist talk, interview and text)

* Present to a professional industry standard, a significant body of studio work representative of an extensive and contextually informed studio-based inquiry

Critically analyse creative and theoretical research and inquiry in a range of modes and contexts (oral, written, visual)
Education pathways
Graduates of the Master of Fine Arts degree are eligible to apply for entry to doctoral programmes in Fine Arts or related fields or other postgraduate studies.
Entry Requirements
Prerequisites for admission to the Master of Fine Arts programme include: * Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or equivalent relevant experience * Significant exhibition and/or Professional experience as an artist/designer * Academic record, professional CV and portfolio (including reviews, written work, and references) demonstrating maturity and ability to successfully complete the course. English language proficiency at the required level for entry to NZQF Level 9 e.g. IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Content
The Master of Fine Arts degree is a two-year low-residency (blended delivery) programme, built around supervised studio and contextual research requiring a balance of directed and self-directed learning. Quarterly week-long seminars present themed lectures, artist presentations and opportunities for expert and peer critique and engagement.
