Strategic Purpose Statement |
The Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (GDIT) provides graduates in other disciplines who wish to pursue a career in the ICT industry with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue an IT career in the global market place. The programme also assists ICT industry professionals to gain the discipline and recognition of a formal qualification and an organised knowledge system to complement their industry experience.

Graduate profile |
Graduates of the Diploma in Information Technology will demonstrate advanced Information Technology knowledge in one of four major fields of study, as well as skills to apply that knowledge in an industry setting. Graduates will be capable of working in roles such as IT Project Manager, Software or Web Developer, System Analyst, Database or Network Administrator, Programmer and Help Desk support. Graduates will also be able to continue to postgraduate studies in Information Technology or engage in interdisciplinary postgraduate studies utilising their expertise gained in both the GDIT and prior degree studies.

Entry Requirements |
Entry to the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology requires completion of a bachelor degree or equivalent overseas qualification and an English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Students with a lesser qualification plus work experience may be considered.

The GDIT programme comprises eight courses, being seven courses of 15 credits each taken from one of three specialist topics: Software Development, Networks and Security, and Information Systems; plus an Information Technology Project or an Information Technology Internship of 30 credits (two course equivalents).

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
