Strategic Purpose Statement
The Bachelor of Performing Arts (Management) degree programme aims to:

prepare students for production and management careers in theatre, television, film and related industries, through a combination of practical and theoretical studies, and
explore and test the possibilities inherent in theatre and other performing arts through a commitment to collaborative process and interdisciplinary work.
Graduate profile
Graduating students will be:
articulate practitioners who consciously select appropriate ways to communicate verbally and in writing in order to lead and support a creative process through to production
managers and leaders who can embrace diversity and cultural difference to work within multi-discipline performing arts teams
independently driven practitioners who can research and analyse information to present appropriate findings in relation to performing arts projects and organisations

analyse potential problems and synthesise creative solutions to them in a range of production areas and management contexts applicable to professional practice in the performing arts

create, adapt and apply effective management methodologies to create structures which support a range of collaborative processes to reach identified outcomes
integrate leadership, planning and organisational skills to create structures and systems which allow for creative exploration as well as effective completion of projects for screen, stage and event
select and adapt financial management methods and tools appropriate to the scale and context of a production project,
apply their broad knowledge of performing arts production practices to specific roles within stage, event and screen contexts recognising and adding value to the operational processes of an organisation or project
source and assess a broad range of information appropriate to the requirements or problems of a particular project
Education pathways
This qualification can lead to:
Post-graduate Diploma or Masters in a range of areas including, but not limited to Arts Funding, Community Arts Practice, Not-for-profit Business Administration, Screen Arts, Arts Administration, Marketing.
Additional Level 7 specialist programmes related to Arts Management or specific to particular genres such as Opera, Film, Event, Festival etc.
Entry Requirements
All student admissions to the course are by written application and interview Applications will be publicised nationally through targeted advertising, a prospectus, and the Toi Whakaari website.
Admission to the first year of the programme will be based on evaluation through interview by a selection panel. Applications are invited from candidates of all backgrounds, with or without prior experience in the performing arts.
Students must be at least 18 years of age prior to the first day of their first year of study.

International applicants are also required to provide verified evidence of their English proficiency. IELTs required for entry is 6 overall in academic bands with no less than 5.5 in any band.
