Strategic Purpose Statement
The Master of Business Administration provides graduates with applied skills in the core business disciplines at a managerial level, and in-depth knowledge and applied skills in a chosen area of specialisation. The programme combines theoretical, applied and research components in an environment that imitates real-world business settings, to enhance managerial competencies and enable overall personal growth.
Graduate profile
Graduates will have a broad knowledge of the range of business subjects in the basic core, and will have more in-depth knowledge and skills in subjects relevant to the specialisation of their choice. Increased managerial competencies gained will include research and investigation, problem solving, acting proactively, applying new ideas and thinking strategically;
providing sound corporate values, professional skills and overall personal growth. Graduates will be expected to advance their careers in successively more senior management roles.
Education pathways
Graduates will be able to continue to further postgraduate studies in business and management.
Entry Requirements
A candidate for admission to this programme of study shall: i. have an English level equivalent to IELTS 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0) / TOEFL iBT 79 (with a writing score of 21) / PToE academic score, of 58 / AIS Test of English Proficiency (TEP) 56/80 (with no band less than 13); and ii. hold an undergraduate degree (at least equivalent to New Zealand pass standard) or a graduate diploma, bachelor honours degree, postgraduate diploma or postgraduate degree, awarded by a tertiary institution approved by the Academic Board; or possess a qualification awarded by a recognised tertiary or professional organisation as approved by the Academic Board as being of an appropriate standard either for direct entry, or for entry conditional upon satisfactory completion of a prescribed bridging programme of study; and iii. have completed a minimum of two years equivalent full-time relevant work experience as approved by the Academic Board; or hold an undergraduate degree (at least equivalent to New Zealand pass standard) or a graduate diploma, bachelor honours degree or postgraduate diploma in cognate discipline areas awarded by a tertiary institution approved by the Academic Board, reside in New Zealand, and include the module 4.798 in their programme of studies; or iv. gain approval under Admission Regulation 1.3: Special Admission.

Depending on the option chosen, this qualification comprises 15 components of 15 credits covering a range of core business disciplines and more advanced specialised modules. Specialisations include International Business, Finance, Marketing, Operations and Logistics. In addition to the taught modules candidates will undertake one of the pathways: dissertation, internship, or research report.

Credits
