Content |
The degree consists of a common core of courses, supplemented by a specialist environment-appropriate major. In addition, students will be able to take additional majors, minors, or elective courses. The core of the degree introduces fundamental concepts of society, sustainability, the physical and biological environment, and how societies interact with, care for, and modify their environments; as well as how environments shape and influence how societies evolve. The degree will introduce a variety of perspectives of understanding the natural world and our relationship to it, with a focus on te ao Maori, and how these perspectives influence environmental management and policy. The core allows students to explore ways of understanding, critically analysing, researching and explaining the environment through methodologies relevant to their chosen major. The final capstone courses bring the students from each major together in teams to tackle environment and society research projects using the range of perspectives from the different disciplines of the majors.
