Strategic Purpose Statement |
Students who graduate with a Diploma in Languages will have acquired a level of language skill in their desired language or languages appropriate to the higher level of the courses they have completed. For some students an assessment of their prior knowledge may mean that they achieve a higher level than those who start ab initio, but it is anticipated that most will achieve at least a low intermediate or intermediate level of competency in two languages, or an upper intermediate/advanced level of competency in one language, depending on the language studied. They will have an understanding of how to learn a language and how to continue developing those skills after their study is completed. They will also have required a practical awareness of key issues in communication across cultures.
