Strategic Purpose Statement
The Graduate Diploma in Business is designed for people who have an undergraduate degree from a discipline other than business who want to develop knowledge and skills in business. Students are able to design a package for their specific needs, for example an engineer/health professional who moves into a management role may want to include in their study a management course, an accounting course and a marketing course as part of their Graduate Diploma in Business.
Graduate profile
As this qualification is "self-select" people who complete them will have an understanding of business concepts in the specific areas they have studied. This may be a broad understanding across a range of sub-disciplines or a more in depth study in a particular sub-discipline. In particular they will be able to: * understand a variety of business concepts, processes and procedures relevant to public and private organisations * identify opportunities, solve problems and achieve business objectives * select and apply appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative techniques
Education pathways
The Graduate Certificate in Business is the first step towards progression to the Graduate Diploma in
Business. Both the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Business will provide students who have a
degree from outside of business with the prerequisite knowledge required to undertake post graduate study
in a business related discipline.
Employment pathways
Graduates will have a better understanding of knowledge and skills for a business or management role. They
will be able to apply those skills and knowledge directly in their workplace.
Graduates who have done specified papers will have satisfied the academic component required for

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have: * either the Open Polytechnic's Graduate Certificate in Business, or * a Bachelor degree or equivalent professional qualification. Applicants who have attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the minimum entry requirements will be eligible to be enrolled where their previous educational, work or life experience indicates they have a reasonable likelihood of success. If English is not the applicants' first language, applicants will need to have passed an English language proficiency test with an IELTS score of at least 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.5, or equivalent. International applicants will need an IELTS score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.5, or equivalent.

Qualification Type

Level

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
