Strategic Purpose Statement |
The Graduate Diploma in Nursing Pacific is to provide an opportunity for learners to demonstrate their ability to
meet the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) Registered Nurse competencies and practice within the Aotearoa New Zealand context. Graduates will be eligible to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand for registration and a practicing certificate to work in Aotearoa New Zealand as a nurse |

Graduates will be able to:
· Respect diversity and practice relationship-centred caring, social justice and professional responsibility. · Communicate effectively and work in negotiated partnerships with individuals, families and, communities to support the health consumer and their whānau through their health care experience. · Use knowledge of Kawa Whakaruruhau and te Tiriti o Waitangi as a basis for their practice to promote an environment that enables client safety, independence, quality of life and health. · Utilise nursing knowledge and clinical judgement to assess health needs, provide care and advice and support health consumers to manage their health. · Provide comprehensive nursing assessments to develop, implement and evaluate an integrated plan of health care and provide appropriate nursing interventions. In addition, graduates are able to: · Practice independently and in collaboration with others in a range of settings and communities. · Use leadership skills to advocate for better health outcomes for Pacific communities. · Participate in and actively support the development of capacity and capability of Pacific people to innovate new solutions to achieve greater health and wellbeing. · Use leadership skills to delegate and direct health care provided by others and be accountable for ensuring all health services they provide meet professional and ethical standards and relevant legislated requirements. · Use nursing knowledge and professional networks to ensure that the health care provided by health services meet professional and ethical standards and relevant legislated requirements · Undertake ongoing academic and scholarly activities to inform the practice of nursing and to take responsibility for their own professional development and competence through formal and informal reflection. |

Entry Requirements |
Entry Requirements:
A Diploma of Nursing (L5) or Bachelor of Nursing (L7) from a Pacific Island nation AND A minimum of 2 years full-time equivalent work experience as a registered nurse in their home country and a minimum of two years' work experience in the health sector in Aotearoa New Zealand. Provider credits 180 DAS credits NA EFTS value 1.5 Part time x Full time x Evidence of suitability based on interview, health screening, safety check and referee reports. |
