All the award winners from the 2018 Top Scholar Awards ceremony with NZQA Board Chair, Murray Strong, Minister of Education, Hon Chris Hipkins, and the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern

New Zealand Scholarship examinations assess students against challenging standards and are demanding for the most able students.

NZQA celebrated the success of the highest-achieving New Zealand Scholarship students at the annual Top Scholar Awards Ceremony hosted at Parliament on 1 May 2019.

The awards recognised the elite students who make up the 2018 Premier Award and Top Subject Scholarship Award winners.

Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern announced the recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Academic Excellence: Yang Fan Yun, formerly of Macleans College.
