Key information about NCEA, University Entrance and New Zealand Scholarship from 2020 is now available in the Annual Report on NCEA, University Entrance and NZ Scholarship Data.

Approximately 163,000 Year 11, 12 and 13 students worked towards NCEA in 2020. Approximately 163,000 Year 11, 12 and 13 students worked towards NCEA in 2020. 

“That NCEA attainment increased despite the disruption from COVID-19 is a testament to the extraordinary efforts of students, teachers, schools and whānau,” says NZQA Deputy Chief Executive Assessment, Andrea Gray.

The publication provides information and statistics on:

  • NCEA and University Entrance attainment
  • NCEA and University Entrance Literacy and Numeracy attainment
  • NCEA Certificate Endorsement and Course Endorsement attainment
  • 2020 New Zealand Scholarship awards
  • results by standard type (achievement and unit standard)
  • NCEA administrative processes, such as Special Assessment Conditions and investigations into breaches of examination rules.

Data is provided over 10 years where possible, and disaggregated by gender, ethnicity and school decile band.
